Why I Don’t Fight

If you know me or have been reading this blog for any amount of time, you know that I am a pastor and a woman.

That fact tends to raise quite a few eyebrows and lead to a lengthy theological discussion. I, often times, make the other participant in the discussion quite angry.

Because I don’t fight.

I don’t push the issue.

I’m not trying to prove anything.

I am by no means ignorant on the issue,  it’s just not worth fighting for me.

I feel the same way about the predestination debate, the ‘issue’ of homosexuality or eschatology for that matter. While I have opinions (and in some cases very strong opinions), I’m not going to argue with you.

I’m going to love you. And not in some cheesy Christanese way but in a very real way.

In those moments, to me, love looks like bowing out of an argument and treating you to a cup of coffee.
