A Message on Grace

If you say the word ‘grace’ around me, be prepared for a sermon.

I cannot get over the grace of God and His love for His people…it makes no sense to me.

Below is the outline for a sermon I recently preached at my church, be blessed!

Introduction

What do I love about the Lord?

Romans 5:8

‘…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.’ (ESV)

‘But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him’ (The Message)

‘While I was still in my mess, grace prevailed!’ (Bri’s version)

Grace – unmerited favor

Sermon Outline

The Prodigal Son

Luke 15:11- 32

  1. Grace is chasing you (vs. 20)

And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him

2. Grace doesn’t care about how you feel (vs. 22)

But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.

3. Grace ignores the haters (vs.31 -32)

And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’

Transition

Our RESPONSE to grace is critical!

Romans 6:1 – 4

“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”

Conclusion

Romans 6:14

‘For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace!’
